May 5th, 2007 -
Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay California.
The 2nd annual
"Legend of the Motorcycle" exhibit took place with a much larger
crowd and more bikes on display compared to last year. Bevel
Heaven's owner Steve Allen was there and took these photos.
"Judging by the attendance and smiles on faces I would say
that the promoters of this event are really onto something".
Next year is already being planned, with MV Agusta and Norton
being the featured marques. Mark your calendars for May
3rd 2008. The call for entries opens June 1.

SECOND
ANNUAL
LEGEND OF THE MOTORCYCLE
A ROARING SUCCESS
San
Francisco – 6 May 2007 – The second annual Legend of the
Motorcycle Concours d’Elegance, the world-class event
exclusively for motorcycles, enjoyed its second year with
resounding success.
In
attendance at the Saturday, May 5th Concours were
nearly 6,000 attendees, 185 entrants, judges from seven
countries, and participants from five continents, admiring more
than 300 of the world’s best motorcycles and raising thousands
of dollars for charity.
The featured
marques were Excelsior, Henderson and Vincent, with just about
every Vincent of historical significance in attendance, making
for a record assembly. From an 1898 MMC brought from England, to
the only NKB motorcycle in the world (a pre-War Japanese make),
to a chopper built for Brad Pitt by Paul Cox, to the
pre-production 2008 Ducati Hypermotard, every facet of
motorcycle sport and culture was represented.
Willie G.
Davidson received the Lifetime Achievement Award, conferred by a
panel consisting of co-founder Jared Zaugg, actor and rider
Charley Boorman, legends Mert Lawwill, Marty Dickerson, and Bud
Ekins, fourth generation Harley dealer Chris Perkins, and
industry executives Erik Buell, Pierre Terblanche of Ducati,
Dirk Biehler of BMW, and Mark Kennedy of Triumph.
Chad McQueen
and Bud Ekins presented the Steve McQueen award for the bike
that best represented the King of Cool, while Lucky Brand Jeans
sponsored the Elvis Presley award for the bike best representing
the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Peter Coyote presented the People’s
Choice award, and Best of Show went to a 1915 Henderson Long
Tank.
A private
ride from Los Angeles to Half Moon Bay with guests Peter Fonda
and Charley Boorman united executives from Confederate, Ducati,
MV Agusta and Triumph for a first-ever trip, and Triumph donated
the motorcycle used in the just-released movie Lucky You,
starring Eric Bana and Drew Barrymore, for the charity auction.
From racers
to builders, celebrities to owners, enthusiasts to the curious,
Legend of the Motorcycle brought together a unique
combination of people for a weekend world event celebrating the
two-wheeled machine.
