'07 RED BULL U.S. GRAND PRIX
STONER DOMINATES MOTOGP
RIVALS
Another large crowd was on hand as Australian Casey
Stoner stormed to victory in Sunday's Red Bull U.S.
Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The
21-year-old Stoner led start to finish -- 32 laps around
the 2.238-mile Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. His sixth win
of the season puts him 44 points ahead of Valentino
Rossi after 11 of 18 rounds in the MotoGP World
Championship
Another Australian, Chris Vermuelen, finished second,
while Italian Marco Melandri finished third for the
second consecutive year.
More than 143,000 people witnessed this year's race,
making it the largest spectator event in Monterey
County.
Next year's Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix is scheduled for
July 18-20. (4th annual)
MONTEREY, Calif. (July 19, 2007) – Mazda
Raceway Laguna Seca officials today
announced July 18-20, 2008 are the dates
for the fourth annual Red Bull U.S.
Grand Prix, featuring round 11 of 18 in
the 2008 MotoGP World Championship. The
date for the event is tentative, subject
to the release of the full FIM calendar
in September.
The
2008 race marks the fourth consecutive
visit for MotoGP teams and riders to the
historic Monterey circuit, where they
will be joined by the AMA Superbike
Championship (AMA classes to be
determined).
Tickets
for the event go on sale this November.
Reserved camping and hospitality tickets
go on sale November 1, while all other
tickets – general admission, grandstand,
paddock, parade lap and parking – go on
sale November 5.
