I bought this bike from
some Harley guys who stored this bike for many years. It had
just over 5,000 miles when I bought it but was rough from having
been left outside early in its life (not by the Harley guys). I
got the bike running and rode it about 1400 miles before
restoration. It ran great and is even better now. Restoration
took place in 2010 and has been ridden only about 100 miles
since.
This is a cosmetic
restoration on an original bike. The bike was intact and
unmolested when I bought it. Engine case lead tag is intact but
I removed the heads to replace the O-rings and check on things.
All is well and only one valve needed adjustment (screw
adjusters).
Paint was matched to a side
cover that had never seen sun and is spectacular. Pin striping
is by hand (Harley head of graphic design) in the proper "dirty"
white. All chrome is new, new SS spokes and polished Borrani
rims (original steel rims go with bike). Conti mufflers are
originals re plated. There is a slight crease where there was a
welded repair on the right one but not noticeable. Seat is new
with proper heat set, simulated stitching. Original rubber grips
were used because they are such an unusual design. They have
cracks.
Mechanical work includes
NOS caliper, rebuilt master, Bevelheaven.com SS brake line and
green pads. Wheel bearings, cush bearing and headset bearings
are new. Dyna ignition installed and original points go with
bike.
O-ring chain and new rear
sprocket from Bevelheaven.com Forks were cleaned and
rebuilt with progressive springs and new seals. Rear shocks were
cleaned and refilled.
Comes with original owner's
manual and clear Wisconsin Title.
Deviations from stock are:
pod air filters, missing choke lever and cables (flip up choke
on horizontal carb works great) and Borrani rims, which are
correct size. Turn signals have been removed for esthetics but
come with the bike.
This bike runs great, looks
great and sounds great. It starts easily on one or two kicks.
