I purchased this bike back in 2005. I was told that it had ben sitting in some ones laundry with sheets over it. It was complete, in terms of all original parts were on the bike and just needed a good clean and restoration.

The bike was completely stripped down and fully restored by myself over the following 10 years. Wherever possible, NOS parts were purchased along the way to replace older parts that were on the bike.

It is probably easier to list the parts that are non original:

  • Windshield is a replica.

  • Rubber around the side covers is from Bevel Rubber.

  • Aftermarket Voltage Regulator (original is supplied).

  • Wiring Loom (original ones are completely extinct).

NOS parts list (major items)

  • A perfect NOS JOD headlight.

  • Front brake Master Cylinder.

  • Verlicci hand grips, bar end caps and original NOS foot peg rubbers.

  • NOS dash.

  • NOS instrument lights, speedo and tacho.

  • NOS Conti mufflers manufactured in the 70’s.

  • NOS Cush Drive assembly and housing.

  • NOS Electric Stator.

  • NOS instrument switch.

The motor was sent to Damien Birch of Bevel Rubber to get a complete overhaul. Carillo rods and racing pistons were installed, the crank taken apart and cleaned, all bearing changed with major bearings being custom made or of aircraft grade tolerance (meaning very expensive) used. There were no broken fins at all on the motor and all new valves and guides were installed as well.

All bodywork is original to the bike and was repaired and repainted by Paintwork in Melbourne. Paint is absolutely fantastic. All Aluminium components, such as wheels and engine cases were hand polished by myself over the years. The left side engine case still has the timing mark where is should be and the Boranni wheel  spoke nipple housings have not been flattened and destroyed by a polishing machine! Attention to detail has been painstakingly maintained in this A grade restoration.

All brake calipers and rear suspension shocks were fully restored by Bevel Rubber again.

Triple clamps, rear original suspension springs and front fork housings were sent interstate to get an exact match on black paint texture. Fork tubes were re-rolled and hard chrome engineered back to original glory.

Seat was redone by Eldorado Seats – famous for their exacting high quality reproduction works.

A new wiring loom was installed by Guzzi Spares along with appropriate relays, using an original fuse box housing. As well, they fully overhalled and rebuilt the PHM40mm Dell’Orto carbies that were again original to the bike.

Feeding the original carbies is again the original rebuilt Orlandi fuel taps with the fuel tank exhibiting no signs of any internal rusting.

All nuts and bolts were individually bead blasted and then barrel zinc plated and re-installed back on the bike.

Overall, this bike has taken 10 long years to slowly put back together as there was no rush on my part to complete it. I never rebuilt it to ride, its simply too expensive for me to ride, hence moving it along to more of an enthusiast that lusts after this sort of machine.  I would have to say that this 900SS has to be one of the most complete and best restored that I have seen on the market. I have made every attempt to bring this bike back to original factory specs.

Indicators are NOS from Ian Gawonlock. I used black housings with reflectors after researching photos of specifically 1976 900SS bikes that came to Australia.

This has been a no-expense spared restoration that will meet the expectations of the most discerning buyer.  Please contact me for more pictures on my dropbox account. I have original pictures of when I first purchased the bike and also some during the rebuild. Bike also comes with its original license plate for the frame and number plate for the rear. The bike starts and runs beautifully, with all electrics working, after Rob at Guzzi Spares did the final touches of putting things back to exacting standards.

Bike is located n Melbourne, Australia
